Sia's hair- The Ramblings of Sia

My hair grows thick, dark and kinky-curly.

My hair is thick. So thick, I cannot count the number of combs that have broken in it. My hair is so thick that it will only permit combing only after it has been wetted and oiled. Yet in all its thick glory, each individual strand is silky to touch.

My hair is so dark I constantly debate within myself about its color. Is it black or dark brown? I have finally decided that it is ebony.

My hair is kinky-curly. My hair is so kinky-curly that often after I have run a comb through the unruly mass, I can feel individual kinky-curls shrink back, reverting to their natural kinky-curly state. In boarding school, I got in trouble often enough because my kinky-curls could never be tamed. No matter how often I combed, I couldn't get my hair to stay prim and proper for long.

All my friends know I'm in love with my hair. Sure, it's hard to comb and combing it makes my arms tired. Sure, sometimes I don't know what to do with it and I end up just putting a hat to cover the unruly mess. Sure, I often mask my hair with a wig or a sew-in, or braid it with extensions. That doesn't mean I love it any less.

It is the hair that grows naturally on my head, and I love every inch of the thick, dark kinky-curly growth.
