every time

you touched me

without my consent

not only did you defile me

you also deadened a part of my soul

you did not break me

you only stole a part of me

that belongs solely to me

This poem is inspired by the poetry of Rupi Kaur. Being so madly in love with her poetry, I decided to write something that sort of mimics the wonderful poet's writing style.

Rupi Kaur is an inspiration to me. She is an Indian immigrant, now based in Toronto, Canada. Her most popular work is actually her first book, Milk and Honey. Milk and Honey is a collection of poetry that appeals to the modern woman. You need to read it to even begin to understand why she is so wonderful.

I didn't name my own poem (or more accurately, I settled on "Untitled 01") because I couldn't find a title to suit my poem. Nothing just seemed to fit right. (And low key because Kendrick Lamar released a "compilation album" called "untitled unmastered" ). Also, I think the title helps give it a neutral tone.

Anyway it's time for me to shut my big mouth up before I go into a full blown literary analysis of my own work. (I'm sorry, I'm just that big a nerd!)

Cheerio!
